Durham NC – Completed 2008
This Dutch colonial needed modest expansion. The owner required absolute respect for the existing details and history of the house. A new gambrel roof was added above the screened porch to house a dressing room with finely detailed built-in cabinets. The cramped kitchen, breakfast room, and laundry rooms were gutted and reconfigured. A new corner bay window was added to the rear, allowing more light and views into the kitchen. The bath is a wonderful indulgence of modern fixtures and tile with classic, historic roots. Photos by Center Studio.
